The framework
A seven-phase operating system for consequential conversations.
The ELEVATE™ Method is not a script and not a mindset. It is an order of operations. Each phase has a physiological rationale, a practice, and a sales application, and each one runs before the phase that follows it.
Regulate before you relate; relate before you recommend.
The core equation
Sustainable sales performance = State × Skill × System × Service
A zero in any factor constrains the whole result.
The stack
Four layers, built from the base up.
Training the top layer while the bottom layer is failing is the most common and most expensive mistake in sales development.
Commercial Execution
Diagnosis, candid recommendation, mutual action plans, multithreading, and same-day hygiene.
This layer turns understanding into revenue without borrowing against trust.
Relational Craft
Preparation, listening, accurate reflection, and consequence questions that surface the real constraint.
This layer converts a regulated state into information the buyer would not otherwise offer.
Regulation
Noticing activation early and downshifting on demand, in real time, in front of another person.
This layer is what keeps method available under pressure instead of collapsing into habit.
Foundation
Sleep, movement, fuel, and recovery structured as a work requirement rather than a wellness aspiration.
This layer sets the ceiling on everything above it. No technique survives a depleted operator.
Foundation → Regulation → Relational Craft → Commercial Execution
The seven phases
E
Phase 01
PRIME
Embody
Establish a reliable physiological base.
- Neuroscience principle
- Sleep regularity, aerobic capacity, and stable fuel set the ceiling on prefrontal control. Executive function is not a mindset; it is a metabolic privilege.
- Transcendental principle
- The body is the first instrument. You cannot tune a conversation with an untuned instrument.
- Practice
- Fixed wake time, morning outdoor light within 30 minutes of waking, Zone 2 three times weekly, strength twice weekly, and no consequential calls in your daily trough.
- Sales application
- Protect high-value call windows.
L
Phase 02
PRIME
Locate
Name current state without judgment.
- Neuroscience principle
- Affect labeling reduces limbic reactivity and restores access to deliberate processing. Naming is not indulgence; it is throughput.
- Transcendental principle
- Awareness precedes choice. What is unnamed runs the meeting.
- Practice
- Before the call, write one line: what I know, what I am inferring, what I am afraid of. Three clauses. No editorializing.
- Sales application
- Separate facts from forecast anxiety.
E
Phase 03
PRIME
Exhale
Downshift excessive arousal.
- Neuroscience principle
- Extended exhalation increases vagal tone and slows heart rate; slow-paced breathing reliably shifts short-term autonomic balance.
- Transcendental principle
- The breath is the only lever you can pull in front of another person without them knowing.
- Practice
- One physiological sigh: two inhales through the nose, one long exhale through the mouth. Repeat twice. Under fifteen seconds.
- Sales application
- Reset before call, objection, or negotiation.
V
Phase 04
PRIME
View
Widen perspective around buyer reality.
- Neuroscience principle
- Threat narrows the aperture of attention. Deliberately widening the frame restores peripheral information you need to price risk correctly.
- Transcendental principle
- The deal is never only the deal. It sits inside a person's quarter, a team's politics, and a company's fear.
- Practice
- Name three stakeholders, one competing priority, and one reason a rational buyer would do nothing at all.
- Sales application
- Test assumptions; map stakeholders.
A
Phase 05
LOOP
Attune
Create safety through precise attention.
- Neuroscience principle
- Perceived safety is the precondition for disclosure. People do not tell you the real constraint until their guard is down.
- Transcendental principle
- Attention is the most generous thing you own and the least expensive thing you can give.
- Practice
- Summarize in their words before you propose anything. Then ask one consequence question and stop talking.
- Sales application
- Reflect, label, ask, confirm.
T
Phase 06
LOOP
Tell the Truth
Diagnose and recommend with candor.
- Neuroscience principle
- Prosocial behavior engages reward circuitry, and candor lowers the cognitive load of vigilance for both parties.
- Transcendental principle
- Integrity is a performance strategy before it is a virtue. It removes the tax of maintaining a story.
- Practice
- Disclose one real risk per consequential call. Say out loud what would make you the wrong choice.
- Sales application
- Quantify problem; reveal fit, risk, and no-fit.
E
Phase 07
CLEAR
Execute & Evolve
Convert insight to mutual action and learning.
- Neuroscience principle
- Specific, time-bound commitments outperform intentions. Deliberate practice with feedback is the only reliable route to skill.
- Transcendental principle
- Service that never lands is sentiment. Follow-through is the closing argument.
- Practice
- Every consequential call ends with owner, date, and outcome. CRM the same day. One after-action note: what I would repeat, what I would change.
- Sales application
- Owner, date, next step. CRM same day. After-action review.
The protocols
PRIME, LOOP, CLEAR.
Three short routines that carry the seven phases into a working day. Each one has a ninety-second version for a full calendar and a three-minute version for a deal that deserves it.
PRIME
Pre-callPosture
Feet down, sternum up, jaw unclenched. Position precedes tone.
Respire
Two physiological sighs. Longer exhale than inhale.
Intent
One sentence: the outcome that would serve this buyer.
Map
Stakeholders, competing priority, the case for doing nothing.
Enter
Open with their world, not your agenda.
90 seconds
Posture, two sighs, one intent sentence. Ninety seconds is enough.
3 minutes
Add the stakeholder map and one written assumption to test.
LOOP
In-callListen
No interrupting, no over-narrating, no finishing their sentence.
Observe
Pace, pauses, hedges. Note where the energy drops.
Orient
Summarize in their language and confirm accuracy.
Proceed
Only then diagnose, quantify, and recommend.
90 seconds
Run one full loop before any recommendation leaves your mouth.
3 minutes
Run a second loop after the first objection, before you answer it.
CLEAR
Post-callCapture
Facts and quotes while they are still exact.
Log
CRM the same day. Not the same week.
Evaluate
What I would repeat. What I would change.
Acknowledge
One message of specific, useful follow-through.
Re-enter
Reset physiology before the next consequential call.
90 seconds
Capture, log the next step with owner and date, then reset.
3 minutes
Add the after-action note and one deliberate-practice target for the week.
Evidence appendix
What the evidence does and does not say.
Six representative claims, each with a tier and a source. The full ledger holds every claim we make anywhere, including the ones the field disputes.
| Claim | Tier | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Adults generally require seven or more hours of sleep for health; regularly shorter sleep is associated with adverse outcomes. | Tier A | AASM & Sleep Research Society consensus statement |
| Sleep restriction reliably degrades sustained attention and reaction time, with dose-dependent effects. | Tier A | Lim & Dinges, Psychological Bulletin |
| Slow-paced breathing and HRV biofeedback produce short-term shifts in autonomic balance and reduce self-reported stress. | Tier B | Systematic review and meta-analysis of HRV biofeedback |
| Meditation practice is associated with altered default mode network activity and connectivity. | Tier B | Meta-analytic work on meditation and the default mode network |
| Generous behavior engages reward-related neural circuitry. | Tier B | Park et al., Nature Communications |
| 67% of reps did not expect to hit quota; 84% missed the previous year. | Tier B | Salesforce State of Sales, 2024 |
